File this one in the “bet you didn’t know this” category – PortalPlayer announced today that the new SanDisk Sansa c200 MP3 players incorporate the PortalPlayer platform similar to the one used for the Sansa e200 family of MP3 players. PortalPlayer develops hardware, firmware and software platforms for personal media players as well as secondary display-enabled computers.
The new Sansa c200 line of MP3 players feature:
- Color display
- microSD card slot
- digital FM radio
- voice recorder
- USB 2.0 support
- 1 or 2GB of memory
The 1GB unit goes for $79.99 while the 2GB unit sells for $99.99

PortalPlayer technology designed into feature-rich personal media player that breaks the $100 price threshold for 2GB players
SAN JOSE, Calif. –(Business Wire)– Oct. 26, 2006 PortalPlayer, Inc. (Nasdaq:PLAY), a leading supplier of semiconductors, firmware and software for personal media players and secondary display-enabled computers, announced today that its personal media player platform technology has been designed into the SanDisk Sansa c200 family of affordable, feature-rich MP3 players. This announcement comes on the heels of the Sansa e280 introduction in August, which also uses PortalPlayer’s technology and offers 8GB of flash memory storage.
The SanDisk Sansa c200 personal media players incorporate a PortalPlayer platform similar to the one that powers the award-winning Sansa e200 family of products. The c200 MP3 players feature a color display, a microSD card slot, digital FM radio, voice recorder, a hi-speed USB 2.0 interface and up to 2GB memory. Content and subscription music can be downloaded from on-line music providers such as Rhapsody, Napster and Yahoo! Music. Suggested retail prices for the new Sansa c200 are expected to be $79.99 for the 1GB unit and $99.99 for the 2GB unit.
