100GB Hard Drive for the Xbox 360 in your future – NOT!
DailyTech.com is reporting that Microsoft will be releasing a new 100GB Hard Drive for the Xbox 360 during the first quarter of 2007 in Korea. There’s no word on when the drive will make it’s way to the states but I can’t imagine Microsoft taking their time on this either. With PS3’s coming in 60GB capacities, it will be imperative for Microsoft to release larger hard drives – even if there isn’t a huge demand for them as of yet. There’s also no word on the pricing but hopefully it won’t cost as much as the 20GB drive did!
It’ll also be interesting to see if Microsoft plans to integrate the 100GB drive as part of a newer Xbox 360 package. Perhaps the 360 will be released with both a newer hard drive and the HD DVD drive as a companion accessory? I’m theorizing but it’s not a bad idea to package it together for anyone who just wants it all!
UPDATE – This report is NOT true afterall folks. There is NO 100GB HDD coming out for the Xbox 360.
