LaptopMag has posted a review of the Velocity Micro NoteMagix L80 Ultra notebook here on their website. At first glance, the L80 looks utterly boring doesn’t it? However, the specs look pretty impressive. They’re as follows:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 Ghz processor
  • Windows XP Home
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 100GB 7200 RPM HDD
  • 8X DVD+/- RW DL drive
  • 15.4 inch widescreen display with 1680 x 1050 resolution
  • NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 GS with 256 MB
  • Wireless support
  • ExpressCard support
  • Weight of 7 lbs
  • Measures 14.1 x 10.3 x 1.5 inches

You can configure an L80 here at the Velocity Micro website. A base system uses the lower end Intel Core Duo processor but you’ll also save a significant amount of money if you go that route. The system reviewed by LaptopMag had a higher end Core 2 Duo and a fast 7200 RPM drive. Here’s the verdict:

The Velocity Micro NoteMagix L80 Ultra’s graphics performance makes it a good choice for handling Windows Vista and playing 3D games. Plus, it’s relatively portable compared with full-fledged desktop replacement systems. We just wish it looked a little more attractive.

Hilarious.
