The truth behind Apple iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED and other rumors?
ThinkSecret.com has an interesting article about why the newly announced iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED is named as such as opposed to just iPod nano (RED) like some other products. Apparently good ol Stevie had some issues calling the iPod nano (RED), thus in negotiations with Bono, he made it clear that the nano should be named differently – hence the (PRODUCT) RED convention.
Pretty interesting except – if you go to the JOINRED.com website now, you’ll notice all the products sponsoring the AIDS charity carrying the (PRODUCT) moniker. Although many of the products originally had just the (RED) notation, it appears that everything has now aligned itself to the (PRODUCT) RED naming convention.
Thus perhaps this wasn’t an Apple issue afterall but just a realignment of product names that support the charity. Whatever the case may be – if you have some cash lying about – purchase one of those products listed and help an excellent cause.
Ah yes.. the ThinkSecret article ends with a notion that Apple could possibly release a (PRODUCT) RED iMac and a (PRODUCT) RED MacBook. That’ll depend probably on sales of the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED of course.
