Ok.. I finally took the plunge tonight. I took my newly burned Windows Vista RC2 DVD and upgraded my home theater PC with it… the very heart and sole of my living room setup.

Actually the install is still going so I have no idea whether it’s going to work or not. It’s in the final stages of the setup with the string “Completing upgrade” in bold. What I find even more disconcerting is the statement below that which says:

“Your upgrade may take several hours to complete.”

WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?

Ok.. so we’ll see how this works. I just hope I can see MCE on my television screen afterwards and maybe even get my Creative Audigy 2 card to work. Yeah.. right.

UPDATE:

RIght after I blogged this article did I get this notification from Vista that the upgrade was NOT successful. One interesting thing that resulted was the rollback that Vista then proceeded to perform. That’s pretty cool that it would roll back the OS upgrade to the previous version installed. However, I decided to just start from scratch and attempt to install Vista RC2 on my HTPC. We’ll see how things go and I’ll provide my findings soon. Wish me luck some more!
