If you’re into spending loads of money because of a name brand, then you might be interested to hear that Bang & Olufsen has announced a new digital video recorder called the HDR 2. The HDR 2 features a 250GB HDD inside which can store 60 hours of high quality video or 110 hours of standard video quality. The claim is that the HDR 2 will work with both analog TV and digital TV although it isn’t clear as of yet whether than also means HDTV.

“Features” of the HDR 2 consist of:

  • “Smart” recorder which will automatically delete the oldest viewed episodes of certain programs (wow.. no one’s ever done that before)
  • “Keep episode” feature which allows you to specify how many episodes of a given show to store (another major feat worth tons of money!)

There are some other features that I won’t go into simply because I think the HDR 2 is a complete waste of time … BUT should you still want it, you can purchase it for £980. BTW – a new Series3 TiVo is cheaper than that. Go figure.
