BAM! Bring your music up a notch with the Creative Xmod
Ask the average joe on the street if they think their MP3′s sound great and most of them would say yes. However, every now and then you’ll run into an audiophile who will gladly tell you that MP3′s stink when it comes to sound quality. And if you were to believe the folks at Creative Technology, you might be convinced that music coming from CD’s don’t quite measure up to the gold standard either. What is that gold standard (according to Creative mind you)? Music played in a studio of course!
So how do we get that kind of sound quality with our current music collection? Creative has an answer for you of course and it’s called the Creative Xmod. The Xmod connects to your audio device and modifies the audio output by enhancing the highs and lows. Creative claims that the Xmod will restore the “details and vibrance to your audio” – so much so that it’ll even sound better than the original CD recording – heck if you believe the graphs, it’ll sound better than the studio recordings. The Xmod also supports virtual surround sound output with voices centered in front of you and ambient sound surrounding you.
You’ll excuse us if we sound a bit pessimistic on the Creative Xmod. I’m sure you’ll think the audio output sounds better with the device connected to your iPod but I highly doubt that true audiophils will think highly of the Xmod. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the product is like.
