Sharpening up Sharp’s LCD picture
Think your LCD HDTV’s resolution is high enough? Think again! Sharp has produced a 64 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of 4096 x 2160 and is demonstrating the display at CEATEC Japan. Doesn’t sound all that high? Consider this. Your typical high end HDTV with 1080p has 1/4 the number of pixels that this bad boy has. Yup.. we’re talking about over 8.84 million pixels on this 64 inch display. This is the ultimate display for those who want the absolute best in details. Unfortunately you won’t be able to find this display anytime soon as it’s still in the developmental phase. Even if it was available, it’s doubtful that you or I could afford it considering the immense cost in producing a screen with that many pixels. Sharp plans on targeting the LCD display to film and television producers as well as medical researchers who need the absolute sharpest displays.
In another impressive demo, Sharp is showing off a display with a million to 1 contrast ratio. WOW. Forget the days of 10000:1 ratios.. we’re talking 100x that now! The technology is appropriately called “Mega Contrast”. Nice name..
