ViewSonic introduced two new widescreen LCD television sets on Friday which they claimed to be “future-proof”. The two models are the 37 inch N3751w and the 42 inch N4251w. Both sets come with:

  • Integrated digital ATSC tuner
  • 1366 x 768 resolution
  • 8 ms video response time
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio
  • Support for HDMI and HDCP
  • S-Video, Component Video, Composite Video Inputs
  • VGA connections
  • 2x10w Dolby audio with SPDIF output connections

So how are the displays future-proof? ViewSonic argues that these displays include HDMI and HDCP support which guarantees them compatibility with new set top boxes, and high definition players such as Blu-ray players and HD DVD players. One small problem – these displays are still 720p displays.. not quite the latest in technology when you consider that 1080p is the way to go for the very best in HD.

Still – these two displays are relatively inexpensive. The 37 inch N3751w will retail for $999 while the 42 inch N4251w will retail for $1499.
