MacWorld has posted up a review of the latest incarnations of the Mac mini Core Duo systems. Apple recently upgraded the Mac mini’s to include the Intel Core Duo processor across all available versions of the system. The low end Mac mini now comes with a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo (dropping the Core Solo processor), while the higher end Mac mini features the 1.83GHz Core Duo processor). The new high end Mac mini ended up scoring approximately 10-15 percent higher performance than the previous 1.66GHz high end system – not much surprise since the clock speed was upgraded accordingly. Here’s a blurb from their review:
As a budget Mac, a supplemental home computer, a server, or a home media set-top box, the Mac mini’s price and size make it an impressively versatile system.
One word of caution – if you plan on playing high end 3D games – fuggettabuddit!!!!
