Altec Lansing has decided to re-enter the high end computer speaker market with their latest speaker systems – the FX4021 and the FX5051. Up until these products, Altec Lansing has mostly stuck with regular 2.1 channel systems, portable speakers, and straightforward home theater speaker systems.

Both new speaker platforms offer clean sound normally found in high end large scale speaker systems. You’ll also find a unique isobaric subwoofer in both FX systems that offer warm, rich bass in a package that is half the size of traditional subs. On top of this – the satellites used in the speaker system each come with two active drivers. Finally both speaker systems come with a wireless remote control (as if we didn’t need more remotes in our life) and can be mounted on the wall.

Here are the FX4021 specs:

  • Unique isobaric subwoofer uses dual 5.25” woofers to produce big bass in a compact enclosure
  • Two-way satellites – each with 40mm midrange driver and 18mm tweeter – for full range frequencies
  • Weighted cast metal stands
  • Wall-mountable satellites
  • Wireless remote for stand-by, master volume, bass and treble controls all at your fingertips
  • Conveniently located auxiliary input (MP3/CD) and HP jack
  • Built in cable management

Here are the FX5051 specs:

  • USB 5.1 connectivity…true plug and play (see below for requirements)
  • Unique isobaric subwoofer uses dual 6.5” woofers to produce big bass in compact enclosure
  • 5.1 channels of audio with any audio source
  • Two-way satellites – each with 40mm midrange driver and 18mm tweeter – for full range frequencies
  • Digital hardwired controller for stand-by, master, center, surround, bass and treble controls all at your fingertips
  • Wireless remote for stand-by, master volume, bass and treble and center controls
  • Weighted cast metal stands
  • Wall mountable satellites
  • Conveniently located auxiliary input (MP3/CD) and HP jack
  • Built in cable management

Both products will be available in the fall.

High-end Sound, Small Package . . . It’s Altec Lansing for the Home
The elegant FX4021 and FX5051 put sophisticated sound on the desktop in a simple design

Altec Lansing has officially re-entered the high-end computer speaker market with the launch of its 2.1 and 5.1 FX systems. Simple, elegant yet fantastic sounding, the FX4021 and FX5051 are perfect for today’s more stylish computer systems.

But there’s big technology hiding inside the less-is-more design. Both FX systems produce fantastically clean sound traditionally found only in oversized boxy systems. A unique isobaric subwoofer design produces a warm, rich and rumbling bass in a package half the size of traditional systems. The isobaric technology is a proven dual-bass driver subwoofer design typically used for automotive installations. By integrating it into the new FX series, Altec Lansing offers consumers rich sound and more bass in less space.

Further, the remarkably precise sound comes from the FX satellites’ REAL two way system. That is, each satellite has two (2) drivers that are both active (and not passive.)

For ultimate placement flexibility and convenience, the FX4021 and FX5051 come with a wireless remote and can even be mounted on the wall. And, the FX5051 is the first 5.1 system to provide USB plug-and-play connectivity, giving new meaning to ease-of-use. These features and more offer purposeful design with award-winning Altec Lansing sound that is perfect for today’s more contemporary digital living spaces.
