My wife and I were walking the streets of Manhattan earlier today when we accidentally came upon the doors to the new Nokia store located at 57th and 5th. At first glance it wasn’t obvious that this was the Nokia store… except for the Nokia logos everywhere of course. The store front was somewhat small although it was long in depth. What we came upon was actually a preview of the store and the folks at Nokia let us in early to take a look.

Upon entering the store, you’ll see display cases full of the latest Nokia phones as well as walls full of Nokia phones and accessories. The entire inside of the store is laden in a cool green color. I managed to sneak in some snapshots of various phones and items on display.

There’s a second floor to the store which you can get to by walking towards the rear of the store. The second floor holds the lounge section where you can sit, listen to some music being played through the phones or take a picture of yourself and have it printed on one of the small photo printers installed around the store.

Here are some pictures of the store and phones that we took:

One of the cooler devices that I finally got a chance to play with was the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. Although the 770’s gotten some poor reviews here and there, I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the device and played with it. It was much smaller than I had envisioned but the screen was absolutely gorgeous.

My wife even had her picture taken by an Associated Press reporter that was on hand. We’ll see if the picture actually makes it onto the web but in the meantime, if you’re in the area, definitely drop by today.

Nokia officially launches the store today on Sept. 9th. The store itself is located at 5 East 57th Street in Manhattan. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am until 6pm.
