Amazon officially launches "unbox" video store
Amazon.com has officially launched it’s online video store called “amazonunbox video downloads”. You can browse Amazon’s collection of videos on their website but you’ll need to download a Windows based media player in order to actually download and use the videos. Yup – no Linux or Mac support here. Oh yes – no iPod video support either as of this time. In order for you to play back the video, you’ll need to make sure you have the Amazon Unbox application software installed. You can only view the video with that software in place. You can also sync up to several PlaysForSure devices. We’ll try this video system out later on next week when we’re back in town from vacation.
I took a quick glance at the prices and I’m not all that impressed with the video download pricing. Movies are somewhat expensive at 19 bucks or so.
