Whoops.. did Microsoft mean to do this? Microsoft’s Canadian website posted up preliminary prices for Windows Vista on Monday but has since pulled them from the site. The prices were in Canadian but you get a feel for what they’ll cost in US dollars. Here’s the breakdown thus far:
Upgrade costs for current Windows machines:
- Vista Ultimate – $269
- XP professional with SP2 – $233
- Vista Business – $224
- Vista Home Premium – $179
- Vista Home Basic – $116
- XP Home w/SP2 – $116
Non-upgrade prices:
- Vista Ultimate – $449
- XP professional with SP2 – $386
- Vista Business – $341
- Vista Home Premium – $269
- Vista Home Basic – $233
- XP Home w/SP2 – $233
The thing to take from this is – Vista Ultimate is darn expensive at $449. Heck you can get an entire PC for that price!
