This was news on Friday but I never got a chance to mention this until today. Microsoft confirmed on Friday that Toshiba will be manufacturing the Zune Portable Media Player which is due to ship this coming holiday season. This announcement was made after an FCC filing was made by Toshiba which prompted many to wonder if it was actually the Zune player. Some of the early details to come out include:
- 3 inch LCD display
- 30GB HDD
- Wireless connectivity
- FM radio tuner
News.com had some interesting information as to what the wireless connectivity would be used for – basically Zune users would be able to stream music and photos to others around them – at least other Zune players around them. It’s basically something like being your own DJ and letting others listen in to your collections. The device is supposedly able to stream data to up to four other Zune devices.
