Samsung has launched two new devices that shun the use of hard drives in favor of
solid state disk (SSD) technology – the NT-Q30-SSD and the NT-Q1-SSD. The NT-Q30-SSD is a 12.1 inch laptop while the NT-Q1-SSD is an updated version of the Q1 ultra-mobile PC. The new Q1 comes with 32 GB of SSD storage space. By using solid state technology, these devices no longer have moving parts which means they are far more reliable. Another key aspect – they boot up faster – with Samsung claiming boot times increasing approximately 20 to 50 percent. Samsung is also planning to release a Q1b model which will come with a 60GB HDD and a VIA C7-M processor.
