Sharp introduces eight new HD ready Aquos LCD TVs

Sharp Electronics announced eight new HD ready LCD Televion sets for their Aquos line. These new LCDs all feature a contrast ratio of 1200:1, a resolution of 1366 x 768, a viewing angle of 176 degrees, and a response time of 6ms. The new models are as follows:

Sharp boosts Aquos LCD TV range with eight HD Ready models for the summer

Sharp Electronics (UK) Ltd has today announced the addition of eight HD Ready models to its Aquos range of LCD TVs, equipped with Sharpâ€™s latest panel and picture enhancement technology. As part of this line-up, four models offer integrated digital Freeview, while two have been awarded the EU Eco-label for low energy consumption and ecologically-friendly design.

Each product in the range offers a contrast ratio of 1200:1 for outstanding reproduction of detail and depth of images, 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and an industry-leading 6ms response time for improved viewing of fast-moving images, such as sports and action movies. The new sets also include enhanced viewing angles of 176 degrees, horizontally and vertically, ensuring that colours remain constantly crisp and bright â€“ wherever you are sitting.

As with all Sharp Aquos LCD TVs, each model comes with a low-reflection Advanced Super View Black TFT LCD panel for enhanced picture quality, with brightness at 450cd/m2.

The Aquos LC-32GA9E and LC-37GA9E (32â€ and 37â€ widescreen analogue models) and the LC-32GD9E and LC-37GD9E (32â€ and 37â€ widescreen digital models) are equipped with Sharpâ€™s TruD anti-judder technology for picture, contrast and sharpness enhancement, as well as smoother playback from DVDs and other video media â€“ particularly from HDTV sources.

Furthermore, the LC-32GA9E and LC-37GA9E have received the European Union Eco-label. The label is only awarded to consumer goods and services that meet strict criteria relating to minimising impact on the environment.* Currently, Sharp is the only manufacturer of EU Eco-Label certified televisions.

Designed in smart silver and black, the Aquos LC-32GD8E and LC-37GD8E are widescreen 32â€ and 37â€ models with an integrated digital DVB-T tuner for receiving Freeview channels, while the Aquos LC-32GA8E and LC-37GA8E offer analogue tuning.

Connections for a wide variety of sources have been incorporated into each model, including an HDMI In digital interface with HDCP support, two Scart connections, AV/S-Video In, Audio Out, PC In and headphones. On the GA9/GD9 series, two HDMI inputs are included, ensuring that these models are future-proofed, and enabling easy installation of future HDMI-enabled devices. An adapter cable for a VGA component input is included in the accessories. Furthermore, all models can be controlled from a PC via the RS-232C interface or used as a monitor via the analogue PC input (RGB analogue). On the GD models, a CI Slot is included for Top Up TV.

A wealth of audio quality improvements has been introduced with this range. The integrated speakers offer full cinematic sound, and an Auto Volume Control ensures sound levels are controlled during commercial breaks, to keep them at the same level as the movie or programme being viewed. Sharpâ€™s Clear Voice Function also enhances the quality and clarity of on-screen dialogue. On the GA/GD9 range, a clear flat speaker (15W + 15W) is included for clearer, better sound quality.

The new Sharp Aquos models will be available in the UK from electrical retailers from the end of June 2006.
