Ultra-Mobile PC’s are now available
As many of you know, the first batch of Ultra-Mobile PC’s are now available. You can check out the Microsoft product page on the latest set of systems here on their site. On their site, you’ll see pictures from two major vendors and a link to a third provider of UMPCs. The two shown on the site are from Samsung and Asus. BestBuy is already taking orders for the Samsung Q1 which has the following specs:
- Intel Celeron M processor running at 900MHz. These are the ultra low voltage versions
- 512MB of DDR2 RAM
- 7 inch WVGA TFT widescreen touch display with 800 x 480 resolutions
- 40GB HDD
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
- 2 built in array microphones, 2 built in 2W Stereo speakers
- 8 way joystick
- Multimedia instant on
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- Wireless LAN (802.11b/g)
- Ethernet
- Bluetooth
- Weighs 1.7 lbs and measures 1 inch thin
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
The price for this model at BestBuy? A hefty $1099. (Would I rather have an Apple MacBook at this price? I think so?) The BestBuy link is here.

Finally, you can also purchase a UMPC from the tabletkiosk in the form of the eo UMPC v7110. Unlike the Samsung and the ASUS models, the eo model runs the VIA C7-M ULV processor at 1GHz. The v7110 has the following major specs:
