Wi-Gear Inc. has introduced a new pair of stereo headphones called the iMuff which include CSR plc’s Clear Voice Capture (CVC) technology and BlueCore3-Multimedia silicon for enhanced Bluetooth connectivity. CVC helps to cancel echo noise and suppress background noise from voice communications. As you probably guessed it, the iMuffs are designed to work with none other than the Apple iPod (hence .. the name iMuffs).  Wi-Gear offers a Bluetooth dock adapter for the new Apple iPod nano and iPod video.

The use of the BlueCore3-Multimedia chipset allows the iMuffs to connect to both an iPod (with a Bluetooth adapter) and a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. When a phone call comes in, the headset will automatically stop the music playback. Music playback automatically starts up when the call is either rejected or ended.

Motorola has announced that the PEBL mobile phone will now be available in four additional bright new colors. The new colors are teal, orange, pink, and green. I’ve always thought that the PEBL looks more like a phaser from Star Trek..ha. Anyhow, you can expect to see these phones during Q2

Verbatim has announced a new innovative line of portable USB hard drives called the Store ‘n’ Go HD drives. The Store ‘n’ Go come in two storage capacities - 4GB and 8GB - and also feature a new software utility called the Mobile Launchpad. Not only can the Store ‘n’ Go store your data files, it’s capable of allowing users complete access to their personal files without actually loading the content on a computer. The drive is capable of storing both applications and data files which means you’ll p;robably never have to launch the host computer’s applications for your stuff.

Physically, the Store ‘n’ Go drive uses a polymer enclosure which provides shock resistance to the hard drive on the inside. The USB cable swings out when you want to connect the drive to a PC and tucks away when you want to store the drive away. The drive measures 2.75 x 2.125 x 0.5 inches and weighs only 1.8 oz. The 4GB drive will cost $129 and the 8GB drive will cost $199.

After a few days of reports coming from Japan, Sony has finally admitted that the PlayStation 3 will indeed be delayed until November of this year. So that’s the bad news.. the good news (is there really any for Sony at this point?) - the console will be released simulatenously in Japan, North America, and Europe. Ok Microsoft.. this is YOUR chance now to really push the Xbox 360. It’s time to get the content developers to release those cutting edges games to push the 360 even further.

The new PS3 will supposedly be available within the first 10 days of November and approximately 6 million units are expected to ship by March of 2007.

So why the holdup? Sony claims that there were still issues over the finalization of copy protection technology for the Blu-ray drive.  One other interesting tidbit - the PS3 will feature a 60GB HDD with Linux preinstalled. Very interesting..

PC Magazine has posted a review of the Alienware Area-51 m5500 laptop here on their website. The m5500 was designed for people who wanted high performance yet a low price point. The laptop comes with features such as:

  • 15.4″ widescreen LCD
  • 3 hours of battery life
  • Dual GeForce Go 6600 and Intel Media Accelerator Graphics
  • Pentium M processor
  • 4 in 1 media card reader

Their verdict was:

The trademark Alienware design and a hybrid graphics solution are a big draw, but the Alienware Area-51 m5500 comes up short on Media Center features and battery life.

Honestly, I think it’s great that we have so many choices nowadays in personal video players. From the Apple iPod to the Creative Zen Vision:M to Ultra-mobile PCs, there’s a plethora of devices. However, there’s still one problem common to all of these players - Content. Although Apple has attempted to address this with the video store on Apple iTunes, there’s still not enough available content out there for us to play with on these devices (legit content that is). Heck.. even if you wanted to download illegal videos, it’s still not that easy for the common joe.

To make things worse, there are plenty of us out there who own DVDs that we’d love to be able watch on these devices also.. SOOOO to that end, InterVideo has announced a new software product called iVideoToGo which allows you to easily convert and copy videos to the iPod and Sony PSP. iVideoToGo works in three easy steps and uses a single screen for all the tasks. It has vast file format support in the form of DVD-Videos, AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, DivX®, ASF, DVR-MS, 3GP, etc.

I definitely will have to check this program out so stay tuned folks.

You’ve probably noticed that news has been somewhat light over the last month. I apologize for that - It’s getting closer and closer to my wedding day in April and hence things have been hectic around the home. Work has also been hectic (yes I do have day job too!) so my time on here has been diminished. However, do not fret (not that you were going to)! Krunker.com will come back with a vengeance…. in a few months that is :)

In the meantime, I will try and keep the spattering of postings going. If there’s something big, you can be sure that we’ll cover it here. In the meantime, stay tuned for a new blog site launch in the coming months. Since I’m a big HTPC person, I’ve been thinking that it’s a good idea to launch a blog specifically just for the HTPC folks and in some ways.. the digital home. I haven’t thoroughly flushed the idea out as of yet but we’ll see how things go. In the meantime, thank you for visiting Krunker.com and drop us a line if you get the chance.

More is usually better right? That’s certainly the case when it comes to processors within a computer system and that’s certainly the case when it comes to computer graphics also. Until recently, the super high end gaming systems all used dual NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards in SLI configurations. These systems were expensive but hey - they were worth it if you really wanted the best in gaming and graphics performance. Well if you thought dual card setups were cool, check out the new Voodoo OMEN Quad SLI Personal Computer from VoodooPC. This system features FOUR NVIDIA GeForce GPUs.. that’s right.. FOUR.

On top of the four blazing GPUs, the Voodoo OMEN Quad SLI Personal Computer also comes with a dual core Athlon 64 FX-60 processor. To keep things cool, Voodoo employed the use of their F5 Liquid Cooling system which uses Silent Radial Fins to dissipate heat and keep things quiet. Yes dual core is awesome but quad GPUs simply rock. You’ll be able to experience 2560 x 1600 resolution graphics with super smooth framerates. Ah yes… the computer looks cool too with a mirrored interior and a brushed anodized machined aluminum construction.

Oh yeah.. it’s a bit expensive too coming in at 7K. Ouch.
