Toshiba launches new Satellite A105 notebooks
Toshiba has launched several new Satellite A105 based notebooks which can be configured with a wide array of features. The A105 come in prices ranging from sub 900 dollars to high end systems running Windows Media Center. The A105’s come with a 15.4 inch widescreen display and typically include:
- Double layer DVD burner
- 5400 RPM SATA HDD
- DDR2 533MHz Memory
- Express Media Player which lets you play CDs and DVDs without booting Windows
You can configure the notebook to use either the Intel Core Solo or Core Duo processor or a Celeron M processor for the low end. The lowest priced system comes in at $899.99 and uses the Intel Celeron M processor with 100GB HDD. On the high end, you can get an Intel Core Duo processor with 120GB HDD, a finger print reader, harman kardon speakers, and Windows Media Center for $1399.99.

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the latest Satellite(R) A105 Series notebooks, offering consumers a wide range of options, from a sub-$900 (ESUP(1)) notebook to systems incorporating the Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo or Intel Core Solo processors(2) and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Media Center for enhanced multimedia performance and management.
Starting at 6.0 pounds(3) with a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite(TM) display, the Satellite A105 series notebooks are designed for consumers who want desktop performance and screen size in a convenient portable design. Standard features on listed configurations of the Satellite A105 series include:
– a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD’s storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
– high-capacity 5400 rpm serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive(4) for faster access to stored files;
– DDR2 533 MHz memory(5) for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files;
– Express Media Player that lets users instantly access DVDs or CDs with the push of a button on the PC chassis without having to boot the operating system.

With an estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $899.99,(1) the Satellite A105-S2021 offers an affordable entry to portable computing. The notebook features an Intel Celeron M Processor(2) 390 designed specifically for mobile computing with 100GB hard drive(4) for ample file storage, 512MB memory(5) and ATI RADEON(TM) Xpress X200M graphics. SRS TruSurround XT(TM) technology creates a rich audio experience for movies or games, while integrated Atheros(R) 802.11 b/g wireless LAN technology for on-the-go computing and Microsoft Windows XP Home is included.
Satellite A105-S4001
With an ESUP of $999.99,(1) the Satellite A105-S4001 features the Intel Core Solo Processor(2) T1300, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 60GB hard drive(4) and 512MB memory.(5) A 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy sharing and downloading of files and Microsoft Windows XP Home is also included.
Satellite A105-S4004
With an ESUP of $1,249.99,(1) the Satellite A105-S4004 features the Intel Core Duo Processor(2) T2300, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 100GB hard drive(4) and 1024MB memory.(5) The notebook also includes built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo speakers and a customizable Dual Mode touch pad that can provide one-tap short cuts to launch e-mail, an Internet browser and other selected programs. Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition is included, simplifying multimedia storage and retrieval.
Satellite A105-S4014
With an ESUP of $1,399.99,(1) the Satellite A105-S4014 features the Intel Core Duo Processor(2) T2400 with Intel Graphics(6) Media Accelerator 950, 120GB hard drive(4) and 1024MB memory.(5) The product also features a fingerprint reader for secure access management as well as harman/kardon speakers, Dual Mode pad and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition.
Every Satellite A105 notebook also includes four USB 2.0, TV-Out (S-Video), RGB, RJ-11 modem (v.92), RJ-45 LAN, and headphone and microphone ports. An iLINK IEEE 1394 port is included on the Satellite A105-S4004 and Satellite A105-S4014. The chassis dimensions are 14.2 by 10.6 by 1.14 inches.
The listed configurations of Satellite A105 series notebooks come with a standard one-year limited warranty.(8) The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may use any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook’s service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.
