WindowsForDevices.com posted up several pictures of the newly announced Ultra-mobile PC platform last week here on their website. As we mentioned earlier, the UMPC is a device that sits between the PDA class of devices and the notebook/tablet class. A UMPC device will typically feature a 7 inch touch screen display, built in hard drive, wireless support, Bluetooth support, and Microsoft’s Windows XP Tablet Edition. Microsoft will also add in a software package called the “Touch Pack for Windows XP” which simplifies the user interface even further to make Windows more usable on a small platform. Definitely head on over to the website if you’re interested in the UMPC class of devices. My favorite design thus far is an Intel concept device which features a swing out keyboard – a la mobile phones.
