As more and more portable (and personal) video player products roll out into the commercial market, you’re bound to see more and more products like the new AnyVu Personal Media Viewer. A joint project by Samsung and MicroOptical, the AnyVu personal media viewer provides a hands-free, heads up and private access to your multimedia content stored on devices such as the Apple iPod and mobile handsets. Th AnyVu viewer features a built in video viewing and audio system which greatly increases the viewing experience of watching mobile video off of portable devices. There’s no picture of this product as of yet but we figure it’s pretty similar to MicroOptical’s myvu personal video viewer for the Apple iPod shown here.

Samsung and MicroOptical Demonstrate AnyVu Personal Media Viewer for Mobile Handsets; Solution Showcases the Future of Video Eyewear for Mobile Entertainment

HANNOVER, Germany –(Business Wire)– March 10, 2006 Samsung and MicroOptical have teamed up to showcase the future of video eyewear for mobile entertainment at the CeBIT show this week. Attendees can view and try the AnyVu personal media viewer, a pair of sunglasses that plays video. The AnyVu viewer, which was jointly developed by Samsung and MicroOptical, is in the Samsung booth (Hall 26, stand D60).

The AnyVu viewer, which features built in video viewing and audio systems, significantly enhances the experience of watching mobile video. When plugged in a Samsung video-enabled phone, the device presents a large TV experience that mobile phones’ little displays cannot match. The companies envision that the AnyVu viewer will enable many new mobile applications such as high quality mobile TV and interactive gaming.

“Mainstream handsets will remain in their current form factor for years to come. As more quality mobile TV content becomes available, and more bandwidth is delivered by initiatives such as DVB-H, DMB and HSDPA, the limitations of handset displays are becoming a major roadblock for a satisfactory user experience,” said Tony Ho, Director of Business Development of MicroOptical. “The AnyVu viewer is designed specifically to address this issue. But more importantly, it significantly enhances users’ mobile lifestyle by providing hands free, head-up access to a bright quality image that’s daylight viewable. The AnyVu viewer, which offers privacy by design, truly enables users to watch anything, anytime, anywhere, and any way they want it.”
