D-Link has launched  anew wireless media player in the form of the DSM-520 Wireless HD Media Player. The 520 allows you to stream all sorts of multimedia content from Windows Connect enabled PCs. The main standout feature on the DSM-520 is support for HD video. It has a built in HDMI connector which allows you to have a pure digital connection for audio and video data between the player and the television set. Other connectors on the 520 include S-Video, Component, and Composite ports. On the audio side of ports, the 520 comes with coaxial and digital audio output for digital sound.

The DSM-520 supports a fairly wide range of multimedia formats including:

  • MP3, WAV, AIFF, WMA, OGG
  • JPEG, JPEG2000, BMP, PNG, TIFF, PNG, GIF
  • WMV9, MPEG1/2/4, XviD, and AVI

The unit also comes with a built in USB port which allows you to connect external drives such as a flash drive or hard drive. You can then play content directly off the drive onto your television set.
