Honestly, I’ve been very tempted to head down to the Santa Monica Apple store and pick myself up a new Mac mini. I’ve laid off of this for now since I have way too many other things to worry about but…. the temptation still is there. Heck.. I might just sell my Shuttle Athlon64 system in favor of the new Mac mini. In the meantime, I get to read the countless reviews that are starting to trickle in. Case in point? The PC Magazine review of the Mac mini here. Here’s their verdict:
The new Apple Mac mini has the Intel Core Duo processor, and adds Front Row, wireless 802.11g, and Bluetooth. It’s a good fit as a media extender or a second system for living room or bedroom use.
That’s exactly the kind of purpose that I would have a Mac mini for – a second computer for the home. My Windows box will always be my main system but a Mac mini would be a wonderful alternative. It’s still not quite there as a Home Theater PC but I’m sure things will change down the road.
