Here’s a pretty interesting product for those of you with HD displays – it’s called the TViX HD M-5000U and it basically allows you to play back HD content on your HDTV display. The cylindrical device can be set up to connect to your home network and stream back video content from networked systems onto your display. It supports high definition videos with resolutions up to 1080p. Videos can be from prerecorded materials from a DVR, DVD content, home digital videos, or etc. It supports video playback of WMV9, DivX, Xvid, and MPEG1/2. For audiom the M-5000U supports AAC, MP3, WMA, PCM, and OGG file formats. Finally you can even view still images in JPEG, BMP, GIF, and PNG formats.
The device comes with DVI, S-Video, Composite, and Component video outputs while supporting coaxial and optical audio outputs. Finally, it has a 10/100 Ethernet port. There are also two USB 2.0 ports which allow you to connect external hard drives which may contain multimedia files for you to play back.
