LaptopMag has posted a review of the Toshiba Tecra S3 notebook here on their website. The Tecra S3 is a black and silver notebook measuring 13.5″ x 11.3″ (which is a bit large for our tastes) but only weighs around 6.3 lbs.. (which is pretty decent given the size). Inside the S3, you’ll find an Intel Pentium M processor running at 1.73 GHz, 256 MB of RAM (which is utterly ridiculous), 40-80GB of memory depending on your needs, a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, and a 64MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 GPU. The screen itself is a 15 inch display with only a 4:3 aspect ratio (sorry but we’ve become accustomed to widescreen displays these days). Here’s a blurb from the review:

The Tecra S3 ships with Windows XP Professional and our test configuration included a copy of Microsoft Office One Note 2003. Its warranty (like the memory, hard drive, and display), could use an upgrade. You can move from the standard one-year plan to three years of coverage for $100, and we recommend you do that. Those four upgrades, totaling $275, would take the Tecra S3 from three to four stars and make it a much better value.
