Remember the DualCor Handtop cPC which we mentioned here at Krunker.com a few months back? It was the handheld with two processors AND two OS’s installed into it? Well the folks at Digital Lifestyle Magazine have managed to interview the President and CEO of DualCor Technologies – Steven Handley – and also dig up some more technical information about the device itself. Let’s jump right in and see what the cPC actually does!

As you probably know the DualCor Handtop cPC features two processors and a 40GB HDD. The HDD is shared by two OS’s – there’s a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition OS and a Windows Mobile 5.0 OS installed on this machine. Powering the handheld is a VIA C-7 processor running at 1.5GHz and also an Intel PXA263 processor for the Windows Mobile OS.

Now I’ve always wondered about that screen shown in the demo pics – well it’s apparently an 800 x 600 touchscreen display measuring 5 inches. It’s one of the brightest screens out there measuring 200 nits of luminescence – nice. As for memory – there’s 1GB of DDR2 memory integrated right onto the device as well as 1GB of NAND flash.

Now the big question that many people have been asking about for some time – what’s the cost going to be? Well apparently the cPC is going to cost a whopping $1500! Yikes.

The price is where we believe DualCor is striking out with the cPC. In order for this product to truly be succesful, it needs to be cheaper than laptops and be a bit more expensive than handhelds today. There are actually very few people (in our opinion of course) that truly need both a PDA and a desktop OS. You usually run Windows Mobile 5.0 because you can’t honestly run Windows XP on a small PDA like device – yet if you have the opportunity to do so, then you’d probably prefer Windows XP over Windows Mobile.

Another interesting note – doesn’t this device look somewhat similar to the Origami?
