LaptopMag has posted a review of the Averatec 4100 notebook here on their website. The 4100 is specifically designed for mobile users looking for light systems as the notebook weighs only 4.6 lbs and measures 12.3 x 8.8 inches. It’s got a white interior design with a silver base, and a glossy black lid - yup - it has some style! Inside, you’ll find a 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 processor, a 4200rpm 80GB HDD which is way too slow, and 512MB of RAM. Screen wise, you do get a 13.3 inch widescreen display which is cool considering how light the chassis is. How does it perform? Here’s the verdict:

As long as you don’t need to work more than a couple of hours away from an outlet, this stylish thin-and-light notebook can get the job done. It’s affordably priced, packed with features, and delivers good productivity performance.

Looking for some cheap mice? Check out ExtremeTech’s reviews of five different mice that all cost under $20 bucks. The five rodents include the Logitech Click! Optical Mouse, the ViewSonic MW206 ViewMate Wireless Optical Mouse, the Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue, the BTC 3D Optical Mouse M871, and the Kensington Mouse.in.a.Box Optical Elite. The verdict?

The truth is: none of these mice really match the ergonomics, performance, and customizability of a really good gamer mouse in the $50–100 range. Those in the second group might want to take a look at a couple of these, particularly Kensington’s Mouse.in.a.Box Optical Elite and Logitech’s Click! Optical Mouse.

Toms Networking has posted a review of the Iomega StorCenter Network Hard Drive here on their website. The StorCenter is essentially a network based hard drive which also acts as a UPnP A/V Media Server (it’s compliant with UPnP compliant DMAs). It has printer server capabilities with USB attached printers, 2 USB 2.0 ports for additional storage, high speed ethernet connectivity, and is available in either a 160GB or 250 GB configurations. Here’s the verdict from Toms’ Networking:

In general, the StorCenter was well implemented and had a nice balance between features a simple user would need and those that would help fulfill the requirements of a power user. I was glad to see multi-platform support, which allowed me to use the device on all of the computers in my house.

DesignTechnica has posted a new review of the Verizon LG VX8100 mobile phone here on their website. The VX8100 is a clamshell phone and measures 3.58 x 1.92 x 1.03 inches while weighing only 4.16 ounces. It features a 2 inch LCD display, music controls (play/pause, fast forward, rewind) right on the phone, speakers mounted on the clamshell hinge, and a 1.2 inch external color display. The VX8100 supports Verizon’s V CAST music and video service and also comes with a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, Bluetooth support, and 45.5 MB of user memory. And yes - it has EV-DO service! So what’s the verdict from DesignTechnica?

There are prettier phones. There are better music phones (such as Motorola’s new SLVR L7 iTunes phone from Cingular). There are phones with larger screens for more satisfying video viewing and TV watching. There are better digital camera phones. But there are few phones that are proficient at all these functions at such a relatively bargain price. But you will have to make an additional investment to make the phone fully music compliant, an annoying roadblock to an all-purpose out-of-the-box experience. And it’s not much to look at. But like a Volvo, the VX8100 is a safe, reliable choice that you can depend on.
