Samsung SPL-07 Digital Photo Frame
You know – digital photo frames have been around for some time now but they’ve never really taken off and I’ve always wondered why. I’m guessing that the single biggest reason why they aren’t popular is because of the relative complexity in getting a digital image from a camera to a digital frame. No matter how easy they make it, it’s sure to cause some headaches to the average joe. Also – somehow it just seems unsightly to have a power cable running from your frame to the wall outlet. Despite all these issues, Samsung has decided to join the fray with the new Samsung SPL-07 Digital Photo Frame. The SPL-07 can apparently connect to the network and have images uploaded to the frame via a service provider. What this means is – you can snap some pictures with your camera phone – upload them to your provider and then have your provider send them to your frame. Sounds simple enough I suppose (sounds like one step too many actually). Hardware wise, the SPL-07 has a 7 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 800 x 480. It can also play back MPEG videos and MP3 music files. There’s 32 MB of internal memory, an SD/CF slot, a built in speaker, and a USB port.
