LaptopMag has posted a series of reviews on the major wireless carriers available here in the US. You can find reviews for the four major carriers – Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint Nextel. Here are the basic lowdowns:

Cingular:

Because Cingular is currently migrating its network from EDGE to higher speed HSDPA technology, the experience we had with our test phone will likely be vastly different than what customers will experience once the carrier broadens its coverage beyond the initial 16 metro areas and begins to offer HSDPA-enabled phones that can take advantage of new music and video services. Our advice: wait.

T-Mobile:

With no HSDPA deployment in sight, T-Mobile simply doesn’t have the speed to offer the same types of multimedia services as its competitors. Your best bet is to pick up an advanced phone like the Samsung t809 that can play MP3s without relying on the network, or wait for the SDA smart phone that can stream music and video over Wi-Fi.

Verizon Wireless:

At least until we’ve had a chance to check out the music store, V Cast is the best choice for people who want to watch video clips on the go and play 3D and multiplayer games.

Sprint Nextel:

Power Vision leads the way with the most varied video content and the most intuitive and convenient Web browsing experience you can get on a cell phone. All Sprint needs to do is lower the price on its groundbreaking Music Store and ensure that its picture sharing service is more reliable.
