The new HP iPAQ hw6915 Mobile Messenger unit has now appeared on the UK HP website located here.  The hw6915 uses the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS and features:

  • Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Windows Mobile 5 supporting push delivery of Outlook information
  • Quad band GSM technology
  • Hands-free speakerphone mode
  • Integrated 1.3 megapixel HP Photosmart Camera
  • Integrated Wi-Fi 802.11b wireless access
  • GPRS/EDGE support
  • GPS Navigation software

Hardware wise, the hw6915 has the following:

  • Intel PXA270 processor
  • 192 MB total memory (128MB ROM and 64MB SDRAM)
  • Mini-SD slot
  • 3.0 inch transflective TFT QVGA, 64k colors, LED backlight with power save mode display
  • Integrated GPS receiver
  • Built in alphanumeric keyboard with LED backlight
  • Measurements of 7.1 x 1.8 x 11.8 cm and weighs 175 grams

It’s exciting to see more and more RIM competitors coming out using the Windows Mobile OS. If the Motorola Q ever comes out, we’ll have a good suite of choices for people who want phone and email support in mobile devices with full QWERTY keyboard support.
