Apple iPod Radio Remote Review
If you needed to name one feature that is missing from the Apple iPod – it would probably have to be the FM tuner. It seems like every other digital audio player on the market includes an FM tuner (as well as FM recorder, voice recorder and what not). Of course if Apple started bundling these features into the iPod, the booming iPod accessory business would start to dwindle also! Thus to satisfy the iPod economy, Apple themselves introduced an FM Radio product called the iPod Radio Remote. It’s basically an iPod remote control with an integrated FM tuner. You’ll need to make sure your iPod’s firmware is up to date to enable support for this product. Also – if you own an iPod nano or iPod video, the iPod Radio Remote is the only option available to you right now for adding FM radio goodness to your listening pleasure. PC Magazine takes this remote for a spin and finds:
Apple seems unlikely to ever build an FM tuner into the iPod, so this is the next best thing.
Yes sir.. the iPod Radio Remote also received the PC Magazine Editor’s Choice award. Not too bad. Another nice feature on the remote – RDS information support which means you can see the artist and track information of the song being played on the radio station (assuming the station is supporting RDS).
