Verizon Wireless will allow phones as modems
There is a god folks! Verizon Wireless has finally done an about face with its wireless policy and will begin to allow subscribes to use their mobile phones as high speed modems for their laptops. This new policy will be available through specific data plans for a select number of phones.
The new service will be available for $59.99 a month in addition to the current voice plans. The phones that are currently supported for use as a modem include the LG VX9800, the Motorola RAZR V3c, the Motorola E815, and the LG VX8100. Unfortunately, the Treo 700w and the Verizon XV6700 are not currently on the list for some reason.
So can you use Bluetooth to connect the phone to the laptop? It appears not as Verizon makes mention of using a USB cable. So you can’t have it all quite yet but we can still keep on hoping!
