Here’s an interesting thought – could Microsoft be readying a new line of ultra portable wearable PCs for consumers? Well according to this blog, we should expect such an announcement soon. These new lifestyle PCs will feature:
- 12+ hour battery life
- $500 MSRP price
- Always on capabilities
- 3G network connectivity
- Instant use
- 10″ length and pen based input
- Use full Windows
My gut instinct says this is some Windows CE variant system but then there’s the little comment about using a full fledged Windows OS. Could it be Windows XP embedded? Perhaps – but what mobile processor will give you 12+ hours of battery life? Most likely a Pentium M processor variant but here again the price becomes a barrier. It’s unlikely a system will come out featuring a Pentium M for only $500 bucks. So possibly a Transmeta processor? Maybe but then performance would be less than stellar. So one is left wondering what the heck this is all about.

Finally.. who really cares? Do you really want a wearable PC? I don’t. I just want a simple to use device to track my calendar and contacts.
