If you’re like me, you need a great deal of centralized storage space on your local network. And if you’re like me, you’re liable to throw together a PC to act as a central file server. However, that can be a costly endeavor and you’d have to deal with some of the noise associated with having a PC running 24/7. In comes the new Buffalo TeraStation Home Server as reviewed by ExtremeTech. This system uses a Freescale 266MHz PowerPC processor with 128MB of RAM and delivers a whopping 1TB of disk space. There are absolutely no heatsinks or fans on the motherboard. In fact there is a single 90mm fan inside the chassis cooling the four hard drives. Sounds pretty sweet huh? Here’s ExtremeTech’s verdict:

An extremely quiet terabyte NAS that does it all: home and small business file sharing, backups, and DLNA media streaming.
