KiSS Technology announced last week a new addition to their media player lineup – the DP-600 High Definition Media Player. This is essentially their first release of a new generation of networked DVD/Media players with support for HD video. The DP-600 features support for a wide range of new  technology many of which are still not yet available at this time. Some of the new features include Video on Demand and IP based Television programming which will be available down the road via firmware updates to the player.

What you can do with the DP-600 in the meantime is play virtually any file format that is out there including the following for video:

DVD, WMV 9, WMV 9 HD, MPEG1/2/4, DivX 3.11/4/5/HD, Nero Digital, XviD

The following are the file formats supported for audio:

Audio CD, WMA, WMA Pro, MP3, MPEG, MPEG2

There are a ton of other features available on the DP-600 including a user interface which provides access to KiSS’s Online Portal, access to an online Electronic Program Guide (although there is no Hard Drive in this model to record television shows but it does indicate where KiSS is going with all of this), web radio content, online weather, stock chart information, and finally online gaming.

The DP-600 is a 1080p capable media player and supports PAL, SECAM, and NTSC. The video output connections include: SCART, HDMI, Composite video, S-Video, and Component Video. Analog output connections include: Analog stereo, Optical audio, and Coaxial Audio.

There’s no pricing information on this player as of yet but stay tuned for more details!
