The Gadgeteer has posted a review of the i-mate SP5m Windows Mobile Smartphone here. The SP5m is a quad band GSM phone compatible with all North American and European GSM networks. It has support for GPRS and EDGE data networks, uses Windows Mobile 5, has 64MB of RAM, a 200MHz TI OMAP processor, miniSD slot, a 240 x 320 color display, Bluetooth 1.2, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, and WiFi 802.11b networking. Phew! That was a mouthful. So the thing that stands out with the SP5m is the WiFi support and the usage of Windows Mobile 5. So what’s the verdict?
It’s hard to recommend the SP5m over any other current Windows Mobile smartphone, since nearly all of them are variations of the same design, and the choice is likely to come down to bundled features and carrier support. Still, I like the SP5m and am using it as my primary phone.
