That’s it folks – the Sony Aibo is no more. Sony has announced that they are cutting the Aibo Robotic Dog line as a result of their cost cutting efforts. The Aibo dog was first introduced in 1999 and more than 150,000 units have been sold since then. Although the Aibo was a great concept, it really never took off – of course the price was a bit prohibitive if you ask me (in excess of 2K for the robot dog). Hey who knows? Maybe they’ll be a fire sale on these dogs and you’ll be able to afford one. Heck the Aibo doesn’t poo – so that’s one good thing going for it. In all seriousness now, Sony will provide customer service to the current Aibo model for seven more years. Not bad.
