We’ve mentioned the Sony XL 1 and XL 2 Media Center systems in the past here at Krunker.com – these are the crazy MCE systems that come with 200 CD/DVD changers as a separate component. Many have wondered if they could get the changer component as a standalone add on to their own MCE system (let’s face it – it’s not cheap buying a Sony MCE box). Well eHomeUpgrade is reporting that Sony will supposedly offer the CD/DVD changer as a standalone option when the XL 2 is released this year. The component will supposedly cost around 600 dollars which seems a bit steep to me but it offers a few cool features. Not only can you use it to store your CD/DVD collection – you can have the changer automatically rip your entire music collection to your MCE system while you do something else. Now the tricky party will be putting together an MCE system which matches the look of the component.
