Here’s an interesting (if not somewhat scary) website – it’s called World-Tracker.com and it can be used to track down GSM handsets from four of the UK’s main mobile phone providers – O2, Vodafone, Orange, and T-Mobile. The site is actually targeted to businesses that want to know where their personnel or equipment are at a moments’ notice but you can also use it for personal use to track your loved ones. Once you’re on the website, you simply give it the number you want to track and it will provide a map of the location of the phone (GPS coordinates etc). This appears to be a paid service – I’ll have to sit down and dig around some more later on.
