It’s always interesting to see how much products actually cost to manufacture. An analyst firm called iSuppli took one of the new Apple iMacs apart, inventoried the parts, and came up with an estimated cost for all the parts. The new iMac costs $1299 for the base model. The estimated cost to Apple to build that iMac? $898. This cost estimate does not include the cost of the keyboard, mouse, or documentation. It also does not include the cost for developing the OS and any related software that comes with the iMac. So who’s making the most money from the $898? Probably Intel since Apple is using the Core Duo and Intel based chipsets.
