Here’s an interesting story – 20th Century Fox is apparently coming up with a plan to release their movies in High Definition formats 60 days after their theatrical release. Fox also announced that they’re planning to release movies in both DVD and on Video-On-Demand (VOD) formats simultaneously. This would mark the first time that movies would be made available to both markets at the same time.

All this comes in advance of Mark Cubans debut of Steven Soderbergh’s movie entitled Bubble. Bubble is being shown in 20 of Cubans’ Landmark theaters on January 27th. What makes Bubble particularly interesting is the fact that the movie will also make its debut on the HDNet Movies channel at the same time. The DVD release will then follow on Jan. 31st. Of course this pissed off many theater owners out there who don’t see the need to carry the film if people are just going to watch it at home.
