It looks like Samsung is entering the home theater PC market with the new Magic Station MT50 which uses Intel’s Viiv Technology platform. Externally, the Magic Station MT50 looks like any other Samsung DVD player, albeit a bit larger size wise. However, it’s not simply a DVD player but rather a full fledged home entertainment system. Unfortunately there aren’t any specifications out as of yet so we have no idea how this system performs or what OS it’s running. It’s a safe bet that Samsung is using a Windows Media Center OS and probably an Intel Core Duo processor inside to achieve power and heat requirements for a HTPC.  Although I probably would never fork money down for a system like this, I think it’s exciting to see consumer electronic companies come out with computer based entertainment systems that don’t look like your average tower PC.
