ExtremeTech reviews the latest high end dual core processor from AMD called the AMD FX-60 Dual-Core Processor. This new proc is really in response to Intel’s latest dual core offering – the 955 Extreme Edition. With the FX-60, you get a dual core CPU running at 2.6GHz. Although this CPU probably belongs in the AMD Athlon X2 lineup, AMD chose to use the FX moniker to compete against the Extreme Edition lineup from Intel. ExtremeTech’s verdict is as follows:

Gamers now have a dual-core processor to call their own. Performance in other applications doesn’t lag either. AMD no longer has a definitively better CPU than Intel—but the AMD FX-60 does run cooler than Intel’s latest.
