Steves Digicams reviews the Nikon Coolpix S4 digital camera here. The S4 features a unique swivel design which provides a great deal of flexibility to the user as well as convenience in storage as the entire camera can easily fit into your shirt pocket. Features of the S4 include:

  • 16 scene modes; macro setting focuses as close as 2.5 inches from subject
  • Powered by 2 AA-size batteries
  • Stores images on SD cards
  • 6.0-megapixel CCD
  • 10x optical zoom
  • 2.5-inch LCD display
  • Face Priority Autofocus and In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, plus On-Screen Help menu and D-Lighting

Steve’s verdict:

The Nikon Coolpix S4 is somewhat of a mixed bag. While we love the big 10x optical zoom lens, swiveling body design and its various user-friendly exposure modes; its average image quality, terrible movie mode, and slow flash recycle time really hinders its ability to “be all it can be”. However, with an MSRP of around $399, it does offer a good value for a compact super-zoom model.
