New Lenovo ThinkPad T60 and X60 notebooks add dual core processors
Lenovo has refreshed their existing T and X lineup of ThinkPad systems with the new T60 and X60 notebooks. Both models come with support for Intel’s Core Duo processors and integrated WAN support for either Cingular EDGE or Verizon Wireless EV-DO.
The T series have always been the middle of the road systems ideal for either business or consumer users. The new T60 one ups the older models by being both thinner and lighter yet more powerful. The T60 weighs 4.8 lbs yet can include up to a 2.33GHz Core Duo T2600 processor. Other features include ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 or X1600 graphics, and of WAN support for either Cingular or Verizon Wireless.
The X series has traditionally been the ultraportable notebook category for ThinkPads. Being an ultraportable, the systems typically came with an ultra low voltage Pentium M processor which meant you sacrificed performance for battery life. With the new X60, you actually get a system that has dual core processors running up to 1.8GHz. So now you can have the best of both worlds – a fast processor AND ultra portability.
