ExtremeTech takes the new Intel Pentium 955 Extreme Edition processor for a spin and wonders if the processor is a bit too hot to handle. You can find the review of the new dual core processor here. There’s an excellent look into the background of the new Presler chip – which is in fact two Cedar Mill CPU’s on one die. Cedar Mill processors will eventually take over the high end versions of the Pentium 4 lineup before the entire processor line is retired in favor of the new upcoming architectures. Here’s ExtremeTech’s final thoughts:

Intel’s new dual-core CPU cranks out better performance than the company’s previous dual-core efforts, but pumps out even more heat. We like the performance, but keeping this puppy cool will be a challenge.
