Cornice Inc. has announced the expansion of their Cornice Dragon micro hard drive lineup with the introduction of new 8GB and 10 GB models. The new drives will allow hardware OEMs the ability to create smaller consumer electronic devices that consume lower amounts of power. Cornice not only increased the hard drive capacities of their Dragon lineup but they also shrank the physical size of the drives by narrowing the casing and reducing the depth of the casing. The new drives also feature Cornice’s Crash Guard technology which aims to protect the drives and data when bad things happen – such as dropping the drive or excessive shaking. The most exciting thing about this announcement is what it means for gadgets like mobile phones and MP3 players. Expect higher capacity devices that require less power and smaller form factors. Always a good thing!
