Overclocking madness – overclocking the Celeron M
I remember back in the late 90’s/early 2000, there were tons of computer enthusiasts overclocking their processors to achieve higher performance while using cheaper processors. The OC news has faded somewhat over the last few years but here we go again – some folks who are taking Celeron M mobile processors and overclocking them like mad. One person managed to take his Celeron M 1.4GHz and bring it up to 4.15GHz.. that’s a crazy 197% increase in clock speed. Of course, you’ll want to consider a very good cooling system for that processor but my god man! Will it end? Another person took a 1.5GHz Celeron M and brought it up to 3.6GHz (as reported by Nordic Hardware). Using a Celeron M processor isn’t a bad idea for these overclocking tricks – they’re already low powered so bringing them up a notch shouldn’t be too hard. The interesting thing will be to see how stable the rest of the system is. Gotta try this out someday.
