As if HDMI and DVI weren’t enough, now we have yet another specification brewing over the horizon. It’s called UDI which stands for Unified Display Inteface. UDI’s goals are to serve as the next generation digital display standard for PCs and consumer electronics devices. UDI backers are hoping to replace the aging VGA standard and provide backwards compatibility to the DVI interface. HDMI backers will also get their day in the sun as UDI will be supposedly backwards compatible with HDMI. The ultimate goal is to have a single interface from PC to Monitor to HDTV to Projector. If you want more information, check out the UDI Special Interest Group found here.
